Disappearing Act is proud to introduce the THERMIsmooth to our practice. The THERMIsmooth takes body contouring and collagen remodeling to a whole new level. It is a non-invasive dermal heating treatment that can be used on the face and neck, and for body slimming and cellulite. There are a series of treatments over 6-8 weeks that are gentle and patients often say it feels like a warm massage.
Collagen Remodeling
Clinical studies show that the collagen in skin will shrink when heated to sustained temperatures in excess of 40C. Further, it has been shown that when the skin is heated to this level, an inflammatory process is engaged which can stimulate fibroblasts to produce new collagen over a period of time.
Body Contouring
Studies show that adipose cell viability drops, while protecting epidermal and dermal layers, when subjected to hyperthermic conditions (43°- 45°C) for several minutes.
Beneath the skin, the effect on fatty tissue is theoretically substantial. Apoptosis of adipocytes occurs and, over time, released fat is metabolized and cellular debris is eliminated via the body's natural process. The two concurred effects provide a visible slimming effect.
