Meet Our Team
Jory N. Kaplan, M.D., F.A.C.S., and his wife, Julie Bass Kaplan, FNP-BC, NP-C, MSN, RN, CPSN, CANS, HCMT, PHN, established Disappearing Act Laser & Skin Rejuvenation in 1999. Disappearing Act was the very first cosmetic laser center in Redding. Their highly trained Physicians & Aesthetic Nurse Specialists have many years of experience and have truly made a difference for numerous happy patients in the North State.
Jory and Julie take pride in purchasing only the finest medical aesthetic lasers, staying on the cutting-edge of this exciting field of medicine. All procedures are performed under the medical supervision of Dr. Jory N. Kaplan. Disappearing Act has multiple state-of-the-art laser and light wavelengths.

Julie Bass Kaplan
FNP-BC, NP-C, MSN, RN, CANS, CPSN, HCMT, PHN
Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist, International Speaker, Trainer
Julie is a Co-Founder of Disappearing Act. Julie has been injecting fillers and neurotoxins since 2001. She enjoys the artistic aspect of her career and strives for a very natural look for each of her patients. Julie began her aesthetic career in 1990. She worked in the operating room as a certified surgical technologist (CST) and certified first assistant (CFA).
Julie completed her Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN), her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN), her Public Health Nurse Certification (PHN), her Health Care Management (HCMT) Certification, a Certification for Plastic Surgical Nursing (CPSN), her Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS), and her Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN). Most recently, Julie completed Sonoma State University's Family Nurse Practitioner program in May, 2019.
When Julie is not working at Disappearing Act, she travels internationally to teach the art and safety of medical aesthetic injectables. She is a Speaker & Trainer for Allergan Medical Institute and Galderma. In addition, Julie is a faculty member for P.A.L.E.T.T.E. Resources. Julie also founded Jubilant Medical Aesthetics & Training Center in Ashland, Oregon. She holds small group workshops there regularly, including her monthly anatomy workshop, Jubilant Head & Breakfast. She has a vibrant Patreon site, Jubilant Julie, where injectors can learn from her world wide. Her passion is teaching the art and safety of injectables.

Jory N. Kaplan

Head, Neck, and Facial Plastic Surgeon
Dr. Jory N. Kaplan has worked with lasers for over 30 years in his specialty area - ear, nose, throat and facial plastic surgery. Dr. Kaplan grew up in Los Angeles and is a UCLA alumni. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. He completed his otolaryngology residency at the University of Washington and remained on the faculty there for three years. He was in private practice in Orange County, California specializing in facial plastic surgery and head and neck cancer for many years before moving to Redding in 1992. He was a founding member of the Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. Dr. Kaplan is the proud father of five children and loves spending time with them and his wife.

Rebecca McAbee
Practice Manager, COO
A Redding native, Rebecca loves spending time on the lake, riding her American Paint horse, or just spending time outdoors with her husband and two children. Rebecca brings 18+ years of administrative experience to the Disappearing Act team. Working as an administrator for a large corporation in the past, Rebecca appreciates the family dynamic and intimate setting that Disappearing Act provides.

Meredith Delello

Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Meredith has been a nurse for over 6 years, working a variety of fields such as telemetry, PACU, GI and eventually found aesthetics as a true passion. Meredith has two small children,
Frank and Elsie, with her husband Tony who also works in the medical field. She enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family when she is not at work. Meredith has a love for all things beauty and aesthetics, as well as creating connections with her patients and making them feel their best.

Denise Pearson
FNP, RN
Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS)
Denise's first career was a cosmetologist, but her love of medicine inspired her to make a career change. In 1994 she graduated from Shasta College as a Registered Nurse. That same year, she married the love of her life, John, and moved to Redding where they have lived ever since raising their two children, now grown. While at CHW she specialized in ICU/CCU medicine. In 2000 she decided to further her career and returned to school, graduating in 2003 from Stanford University as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has specialized in Women’s Health for over 15 years. As evidenced by her first career choice, she has always been interested in helping people look and feel their best. This lead her to the field of aesthetic medicine which she has done for the last 3 years, recently becoming a Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist (CANS). She loves to travel, both for personal pleasure and to support many women’s and children’s charities around the world. Her favorite past times involve good food and wine, reading, and spending time with her family.

Melissa Blake

Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Melissa Blake, R.N. started her nursing journey in 2018 along with being a licensed Cosmetologist for 18 years, in hopes of blending the two careers together. Where science meets art, aesthetic nursing became her passion and goal prior to becoming a nurse. Aside from loving this field of medicine, she also loves raising her two beautiful girls and spending quality time with family.

Stephanie Moravec

Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Stephanie Moravec began her career as a Registered Nurse in 1989 in Shasta County. She has thoroughly enjoyed working in the exciting world of Aesthetics since 2004. She has traveled to Guatemala for over 2 decades to volunteer for surgical mission trips and enjoys every moment she can with her family. Stephanie enjoys the creativity of the medical aesthetic nursing field!

Chris West
FNP, MSN
Head of Health & Wellness Program
Certified Peptide & Hormone Specialist
Chris is the newest addition to our DA Team, and we’re glad to have him. Chris has been in the medical field for over 13 years, at the beginning of his career in the acute care setting he spent time in the ED, ICU and ASU. He has also managed departments in the acute settings. Most recently Chris graduated in 2019 from Sonoma State University with a Masters of Nursing in Science, where he earned his Family Nurse Practitioner Degree along side our founder Julie Bass Kaplan. Chris is heading up our Health & Wellness Department, and is a certified peptide and hormone specialist. At the core of Chris’s approach with patients is the belief that optimal health comes from balance in life. He believes it's about making the right choices and developing healthy habits that will serve you and your family for years to come. Chris really creates a comfortable and caring environment to ensure his patients feel at ease when discussing paths to achieve their health goals. In his spare time he loves spending time and traveling with his beautiful wife Debi and their four kids.

Paige Tantardini

Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Paige is a registered nurse with a background working on a neuro telemetry unit, and a true passion for helping others feel their best. Her journey into medical aesthetics began after attending one of Julie’s cadaver labs, where she discovered her love for the art and precision of enhancing natural beauty. Now, as a nurse injector at Disappearing Act, Paige is committed to making every patient feel confident, beautiful, and comfortable in their own skin. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time outdoors, hosting events with friends, baking bread, and spending time with her husband and their dog, Biscuit.

Born and raised in Redding, Danielle has worked as a licensed Aesthetician for 17 years in spas, salons and medical practices throughout California. Danielle fell in love with medical aesthetics 7 years ago because she loved knowing she could change someone's skin for the better through medical grade products and results driven skincare. When Danielle is not working, she enjoys being outdoors and spending time with her family.

Rory brings a wealth of experience and energy to Disappearing Act, having worked alongside Dr. Kaplan at Redding ENT starting in 2011. When Dr. Kaplan retired from Redding ENT in 2020, Rory made the seamless transition to our team, where she continues to be a vital part of the clinic. Known for her vibrant personality that lights up the room, Rory plays a key role in patient care, helping patients feel comfortable and at ease as she preps them for procedures, takes photos, and ensures the smooth flow of the office. Outside of work, Rory loves spending time with her family, traveling, and enjoying the lake

Kayla Painter
Marketing Coordinator
Kayla joined Disappearing Act in 2017 and has been an essential part of the team ever since. As the Marketing Coordinator, she brings creativity and dedication to showcasing the med spa’s exceptional services. Outside of work, Kayla is a proud new mom to her little boy, Brez. She loves spending time with family and friends and has a passion for traveling and creating lasting memories.

Raven Brown
Patient Experience Coordinator
Raven has been a key part of the Disappearing Act team since 2017, serving as a Patient Experience Coordinator. With her warm personality and dedication, she works to ensure every patient feels comfortable and cared for throughout their journey.
Outside of work, Raven enjoys spending time with her husband, Nathan, and their three children, Jaxon, Mateo, and Rosalia. Family is at the heart of her life, and she treasures the moments they share together.

Whitney Ware
Patient Experience Coordinator
Whitney has been here at Disappearing Act since 2023. She has enjoyed every second of it and has loved getting to know all the special treatments we offer and the great patients we have. She is always eager to learn new things and step up when needed. When she is not working she is outside hiking with her boyfriend and dog or hanging out with her family and friends. She looks forward to many more years of being a member of this wonderful team.

Ted McAbee

Meet Ted, our lovable Cavapoo who joined our team in the summer of 2024! He has a special talent for greeting patients with warmth and affection, often cuddling with them in the waiting room. As a certified emotional support animal, Ted takes his job seriously ensuring everyone feels welcome and relaxed during their visit. We're so lucky to have him as part of our team!
